Hi folks,

My ZERISA site has been quiet for a long time. I have now decided to do regular blog entries rather than annual reports. 

Gunter Pauli our international director, Dr. Ashok Khosla (president of Club of Rome; Chairperson of ZERI Foundation) and I have just returned from Bhutan. We were invited by the Royal Government of Bhutan to explore possibilities of how ZERI can assist Bhutan in shaping a new economy in alignment with Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness initiative. 

The energies of Bhutan have really stirred things up locally as well. There is renewed interest in ZERI work. Focus is on getting many practical initiatives happening at many levels. Eastern Cape Zero waste agro-ecological business cluster is moving into a second phase designing the implementation strategies. 

Ministry of agriculture is keen to work with us on agro-ecology training centers for youth in rural areas. A concept paper has been submitted to the ministry.

Chido Govera has been involved in mushroom training in Tanzania, Benin, Ghana South Africa and Zimbabwe. She has been working relentlessly on her dream of creating a training center for orphans focusing on zeri based life skills.

Gunter’s new book Blue Economy is out and available through www.blueeconomy.de link. For all those inspired by ZERI ideas, this book provides detailed business plans on some of the new and cutting edge solutions.

Locally, Claire Janisch (recent biomimicry graduate) and I will be teaming up offering some exciting ZERI/biomimicry workshops sprinkled with some exciting new ideas gathered from our eclectic goody-bags. So do keep checking the blog regularly.
